🌸Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1 – Foundation chain:

Make a chain in multiples of 3 + 2 (for example, 20 + 2 = 22 chains).

 

◾️Step 2 : First row (Double crochet foundation):

Yarn over, and make 1 dc in the 4th ch from hook.
Work 1 dc in each remaining ch across.
Ch 1 and turn.

(You now have a solid base row of double crochet stitches.)

◾️Step 3 – Second row (Start of block stitch pattern):

  • 1 sc in the first st.
  • Ch 2, sk 1 sts, 1 sc in next st.
  • Repeat ffrom start to end of row.
  • Ch 3 and turn.

(This creates chain spaces for your “blocks.”)


◾️Step 4 – Third row (Forming the blocks):

  • 3 dc in each ch-2 space across.
  • 1 dc in the last sc.
  • Ch 1 and turn.

◾️Step 5 – Fourth row (sc + chain spaces again):

  • 1 sc in the first dc.
  • Ch 2, sk 1 dc, 1 sc between blocks.
  • Repeat across.
  • Ch 3 and turn.

◾️Step 6 – Continue pattern:

Repeat Rows 3 and 4 (the block rows and chain rows) for your desired length.
Change color every 2nd rows for a pretty striped look.
