Abbreviations (US terms):

  • ch = chain
  • dc = double crochet
  • sc = single crochet
  • st(s) = stitch(es)
  • sk = skip

💡 Summary (for teaching)

1. Foundation: ch multiple of 3 + 1

2. Row 1 :sc across

3. Row 2 : 1 dc blocks across

4. Row 3 :sc + ch 3 row (chain spaces)

5. Repeat Row 2, changing colors every 2 rows

🌸 Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1 – Foundation chain:

Make a chain in multiples of 3 + 1 (for example, 20 + 1 = 21 chains).

🪄 Step-by-Step 

1. Make a slip knot and chain a multiple of 

3 + 1.

2. Double crochet (dc) in the 4th chain from the hook.

3. Chain 1, skip 3 chain, dc in next(4th) chain  repeat across.

4. Turn your work. You now have a row of neat blocks ready for your next color row!

Change color at the end of every single crochet row (Row 3) for the beautiful stacked-block effect.
